FAQs for High-Achieving Professionals Considering Therapy
If you’re like many high-achieving professionals I work with, you are used to handling everything on your own. You don’t have time for guesswork, vague explanations, or endless searching. This page gives you clear, straightforward answers so you can decide whether working together is the right fit – without wasting your time or energy.
Who do you work with?
I provide online therapy for high-achieving professionals who need availability, flexibility and dependabile scheduling.
These same services are available to professionals in Virginia and across all PsyPact participating states https://psypact.gov/page/psypactmap.
If you’re competent, responsible, and silently carrying more than people realize – you’re in the right place.
Is this the right fit for me?
- Is your career solid but your personal life is not?
- Do you feel disconnected in your relationships?
- Do you experience persistent exhaustion, emotional numbness, or unrestful sleep?
- Does chronic stress, tension, or irritability occur regularly for you?
- Do you tend to overwork and overfunction?
- Is it possible that you overwork and overfunction to avoid dealing with strain in your personal life and relationships?
If this sounds famililar…you’re in the right place. You’re exactly who my practice is designed for.
What problems do you specialize in? What do you have experience with?
- Perfectionism & overfunctioning
Chronic stress & exhaustion
Sleep difficulties
Values misalignment
Relationship issues
Grief, anxiety & depression
Trauma & moral injury
Major life transitions & health concerns
Post-divorce adjustment & abuse recovery
What is your style?
- Structured, direct, faith-grounded, and practical.
- No clichés. No vague encouragement.
- We deal with reality – not idealized versions of it.
Do you work with trauma?
Yes. I work with professionals who excel and quietly carrying unresolved trauma – whether from career exposure or life experiences.
I’m functioning well. Why would I need therapy?
Functioning well doesn’t mean you’re doing well.
High-functioning people often cope by pushing harder – overworking, overthinking, overfunctioning, and ignoring their limits.
Therapy becomes necessary when:
-
exhaustion becomes chronic
-
sleep is disrupted
-
irritability strains relationships
-
performance begins to suffer
Therapy is a place to restore clarity, reinforce resilience, and strengthen the parts of life that matter most. It’s a place to learn new strategies so you can keep succeeding without sacrificing your health or relationships.
Can faith be part of therapy?
Yes – Your faith and cultural values can be integrated respectfully and meaningfully.
Although therapy is not religious counseling, my approach recognizes that God’s grace endures, and many people draw strength from faith, values, and moral conviction.
- My faith informs my philosophy of endurance, meaning, and truth.
- I operate from a simple conviction: Life is hard and messy. People are complicated. Stress is real. But by God’s grace – we endure and grow through hardships.
What is the purpose of the phone consultation?

There’s no pressure and no commitment.

How long do counseling sessions typically last?
The initial intake and standard individual sessions are 60 minutes.
Extended or shorter sessions are available when clinically appropriate.
What happens during the first appointment (intake)?
The intake is the first therapy appointment.
During the appointment, we:
- Review informed consent, policies, and payment agreement
- Discuss what brought you in and what you’d like to be different
- Review history, strengths, and current stressors
- Identifying goals and next steps
There is no expectation to share everything at once or to be emotionally expressive. The objective is clarity and direction – not intensity.
How often will I need to attend therapy? How long does therapy last?
Appointments typically occur weekly or bi-weekly – consistency supports meaningful progress. Frequency is adjusted based on goals, progress, individual preference, and clinical judgement.
You’re not locked into a predetermined length of therapy – it’s based on individual goals and needs. You can pause or end therapy at any time.
